In recent weeks we explored 2-D shapes through story. We listened to the story of the Greedy Triangle who kept wanting to have more angles and sides until he realised that being a triangle wasn’t so bad after all. The children used a variety of materials such as straws and matchsticks to create various shapes.

We also explored the use of shapes in patterns. We created our own patterns using our choice of materials.Â

We also practised and extended our counting skills through counting collections. Older children explored using things like twenty frames or hundred squares to organise their counting and make it more efficient.

1st & 2nd class also practised their skip counting skills by making skip counting spiders.
